Happy 2 Months, Bennett!

Bennett, we cannot believe you are two months old. Everyone with two (or more) kids has told me how much faster time passes with the 2nd baby, and they are so right. Slow down, little man!!

At two months, you:

- weigh about 12.5 lbs, I think. I weighed myself and then weighed with you, so that's not completely accurate, but it's close.

- take 3-4 oz of formula every 3ish hours. Sometimes you eat a little early, sometimes you make it 4 hours.

- are a formula baby. As of around 7 weeks, Mama switched you to strictly formula. Forgive me. You do so much better/are much more satisfied bottle feeding, and Mommy just cannot keep up with the pumping. It seemed I always needed to pump when it was time to get sister to school. And we woke every morning drenched because I couldn't pump during the night. You're on Enfamil Gentlease powder. I was terrified of the powder formula, but so far, you see to handle it okay!

- celebrated your second holiday - Thanksgiving.

- are not the greatest sleeper {unless you're being held}. That's why we wake up drenched every morning. You sleep as long as you're being held at night, so it's a little difficult to pump while holding a baby. Although I did manage it a few times.

- will not lay down to sleep. Not in your bed. Not in a bouncy seat/Mamaroo or a swing. It's a miracle we got the first 2 pictures for this post. See below.

- are colick-y, I believe. You have a crying spell every night that starts between 9 and 11 pm. Nothing consoles you. You stiffen up and scream. We've discovered that letting you lay flat is the best way to calm you down. So Mommy usually lets you lay in the living room floor for as long as it takes for you to get over it. Once your little legs stop furiously kicking and your arms settle down, I can tell it's probably safe to pick you up and get you to sleep. That's probably why we've started this bad habit of you sleeping on my chest all night. By the time you're ready to settle down, it's after midnight and Mommy is exhausted. If you sleeping on me is the fastest way for me to get sleep, then, by all means...

- got some prescription gas drops that seem to help your colic a little bit.

- have the prettiest blue eyes. They look dark in these pictures, but they aren't. They may not stay blue, but they are definitely not the normal newborn gray. And when you wear blue, they are even bluer.

- have started to be awake more. You are so alert and love to look around. You like for us to hold you facing forward so you can see what's going on around you. You usually eat, stay awake for an hour or so, then take a nap until it's time to eat again.

- have great head control! Everyone who holds you is amazed at how strong you are. You can stand up on those strong legs, too!!

- are oh, so gassy!! You need to burp at least twice during a bottle, sometimes more. And a few times after.

- have started to give us the sweetest, most precious smiles. You love for us to sit and talk to you. You just "talk" back. It's the sweetest thing ever.

- love your big sister. Your little eyes follow her all over a room. You don't, however, love for her to grab your head and kiss you all over your head/face. I'm sure you'll take care of that very soon!

We love you so much, Bennett Dale. You were a missing piece of our family that we didn't even know was missing. We'd do anything to make you smile. We love you much, baby boy, and are so thankful God sent you to us.

Love our precious baby Bennett! He is growing up so fast! His "big" sister adores him. It is so sweet! I love how she kisses him and then rubs her sweet face against his little soft face! I have seen him look for her when he hears her! So precious! Love and miss y'all! I agree about the sleep! You do what you have to do to get rest! Don't worry about it! He will be 5 before you know it! I can't believe that our sweet girl will be 5 in March! She reminds me often! 5 is such an important age to her! Love and miss y'all!
