Look At That Face

This is the face I see every afternoon when I get home from school...isn't he pitiful?!

Just so you know, our entire yard is not made of rocks and dirt! "Win's area" is under our kitchen bay window. He marked this as his spot soon after we moved in to our house. It's shaded from the sun and the rain. So, it hasn't always been a giant hole, but it is now. And it's not a hole he's dug, but a hole he's worn into the ground from laying there for 2 years (he doesn't move!). We've tried to fill it in, but it does NO good. So, we'll just let him have it!

Watermelon & Football

Last weekend was the Watermelon Festival, so we were given two watermelons to cut for our students' snack on Friday. You know me...I've never cut a watermelon! So, Thursday night, Dusty and I took our knives and our ziplocs and went out on the backporch to cut watermelon. (And if you know Dusty, he HATES watermelon. It took a lot for him to help!!)
I have to admit, we did a pretty good job...and the kids didn't care what their watermelon looked like!

This is my view as I leave school everyday...football practice is in full swing (even when it rains, like it did today)!! The fall jamboree is this Friday night, and the first regular season game is on the 28th.

Little Visitor, New Chair, Tax-Free Date Night

Yesterday, we had a little visitor...Emma came to visit while her mama went to get her hair done. Emma and Dusty went to the closet to find a basketball, but instead they found D's hat collection. So, we had a little hat show.

We also watched the beginnings of a few Disney movies. We pretty much just fast-forwarded to the songs, then we started looking for a new movie. Here Emma and D are watching Nemo.

The furniture store called, and D's new recliner was in! Just look at it - it's the king of all recliners! It's huge!

I was very worried it wasn't going to match the leather we already had in the living room, and it is a little darker, but I think it blends well.

This weekend is tax-free weekend in AL, so last night, we went to look for D new shoes (they didn't have his size) and I wanted a few things to wear to school (I didn't have much luck either). It was so crowded!! I think from now on, we'll pay the taxes and skip tax-free weekend. We did go to Logan's Roadhouse and I ate my new favorite - Bayou Popcorn Shrimp. If you haven't tried it, you should!!!

Summer is officially over - kiddos come to school tomorrow! Say a prayer for us!

Show Us Your Life - Honeymoon

Photobucket

I love to visit Kelly's Korner blog, where she hosts many "show us your life" events. I've never participated, but when my mother-in-law asked why I hadn't blogged in almost a month (sorry - the camera just hasn't been used very much lately!), I decided I would join in this week and show you our honeymoon. The pics are from 2005, but I figured old pics were better than no pics! I promise to do better with my blogging!!

We went on a (Carnival) Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. It was WONDERFUL! We had such a good time visiting Jamaica, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman.

We left from New Orleans (pre-Katrina). Here's a pic of the big, winding slide on our cruise ship. Not just fun for little kiddos - the big kids had fun, too! And of course, what would a cruise be without the towel animals to greet you every night before bed! On this particular night, we were so disappointed b/c we thought we weren't getting a towel animal, then we saw the monkey hanging on the mirror.

There were some really awesome broadway-style shows on board the ship each night.

We went to Isla Passion, a private island close to Cozumel. We drove off-road Jeeps through the Mexican jungle to get to the boat that ferried us across to the island, which was beautiful!! This crocodile greeted us as we boarded the boat to ferry us across the water...not very comforting!

Here we are with our husband-wife team waiters.
