Cereal = Messy

Eating with a spoon has not quite been mastered by Miss Avery Claire! She'd much rather slurp/suck the cereal off the spoon!! So, look at that face covered in cereal!

The second I take my hands away, the hands go to the mouth, which makes for an even bigger, yet still cute, mess!

Banana flavored rice cereal = Mmm, Mmm good!!

She does clean up pretty easy, though, and she loves her cereal!

This first picture was taken exactly 3 months ago today...look how much our baby girl has grown!! Mommy and Daddy both cried over this comparison!

Sophie the Giraffe

Sophie is a cute squeaking, teething toy. Avery Claire isn't teething yet, but she loves to hear Sophie squeak...and she loves to chew on Sophie.

Patience

If we want next weekend to be more fun and less school work, we've really got to work hard this week!! So, today, Avery Claire had to practice patience while Daddy worked on school work, with Mommy's help! She didn't mind being patient at all!!

- she even got to watch a little tube!

Weekend

We didn't do much this weekend. We worked on school work. Dusty is taking five classes this summer so he can finish his master's degree by the end of the summer (He's taking four regular classes and a 1 hour course. Someone should really tell UWA that 1 hour courses shouldn't have the same workload as a 3 hour course!)

Saturday night, we went to eat at El Patron (just to get out of the house!). Avery Claire was sooooo good, not that she isn't always. But she fell asleep in her carrier, without being rocked or anything. I think Dusty and I have gotten so used to bouncing and jiggling her to get her to sleep, we were both shocked when she just went to sleep!

Avery Claire spent Sunday:

-just posing for the camera on Mommy and Daddy's bed.

- airing out on the changing pad! We've had a little diaper rash going on around here, so we thought it might be good to spend a little time without a diaper...and things are much better today!

- and playing on the playmat


Even though we love every second we get to spend at home with this sweet girl, we think next weekend is bound to be more exciting than this one!!

Happy 3 Months!!

Avery Claire, at 3 months, you:

- weigh 13.4 pounds...Mommy must have weighed you with a full belly last week!
- are so funny! You are developing quite the little personality.

- love your hands. It's hard to keep them out of your mouth. I'm afraid you're going to be one of those babies that puts everything in your mouth - we'll have to watch you like hawks around here!

- talk, squeal, gurgle, and coo all of the time. It's precious!

- are becoming a Daddy's girl. You think he is hilarious!

- are STUBBORN! Mommy and Daddy have gotten in the bad habit of getting you sleep a certain way. You have to be held facing us, with your back arm under our arm. We have to walk around, bounce you, and try to hold the paci in your mouth at the same time. It's no easy task. And, needless to say, no one else can do it right. So, when other people want to hold you and you're sleepy, it's almost impossible for them to get you to sleep. This week, I've decided to show you that there are other ways to get to sleep - like rocking, for instance. You hate to sit down (I don't know how you know when we sit, but you do!). So, you've spent a few minutes before it's time to go to sleep kicking, grabbing Mommy's hair, crying and squirming, but you're learning that rocking to sleep isn't so bad!

- have started to realize when you wake up in a place other than home. Sometimes it scares you, and that bottom lip pokes out and makes us feel so sorry for you!

- haven't been sleeping all night every night this week, but you're only getting up once on the nights you don't sleep all night. We can definitely live with that!

- have taken some really good naps this week in your crib. We hope you're going to become a better daytime napper as you get older!

- recognize your bottle and get so excited when you see it!

- can pitch a fit! Here's proof for those who might not believe it!

- love to blow bubbles! You slobber all day long!

- have started wearing size 2 diapers this week. That makes us a little sad because it means you're growing up so fast.

- like to hear Daddy sing "Good Morning, Beautiful" at any time of the day.

- like to hear Mommy sing "The Wheels on the Bus." Your favorite part is "the baby on the bus says wah, wah, wah!

- are the most awesome, best thing in the world to us!! We can't imagine what we ever did to get so lucky that God would give us a little girl as perfect and precious as you! We love you so very much!!

Lunch with Friends & 13 Weeks

Today, we met Kate, Chambless, and Judy for lunch at Red Lobster. Here's a group shot - I think the waitress has found her calling waiting tables - let's hope she doesn't try for a career in photography!


(One thing I noticed today that's a result of being a mommy of a little baby was that I ate my food in half the time it took Kate and Judy to eat theirs. I looked around when I was finished, and they had barely eaten anything!! I know you noticed how fast I inhaled my lunch, girls!!! I guessI eat so fast now because I might not get to finish if Miss Avery Claire needs attention!)
