End of Summer Visit to CC

We went with Nana to a doctor's appointment yesterday. Can you tell Bennett was really into shopping?

Notice the clothing change. The boy's gag reflux is bad. He gets gagged, you better be ready. He did get a cool new Nike outfit out of the deal.

He rode "the rides" for the first time, and LOVED it.

Bennett really thinks he can help Papa get some work done.

Look at these sweet cousins. We loved getting to spend time with Bryant. It makes me so sad to think about being so far away from him and not getting to see him lots of times a week.

We headed home today. I've been sleeping with this wild one. If you've ever slept with her, you know I'm ready to get back to my bed.

We stopped a few times on the way home. Bennett always chooses long car rides to poop. And we just all needed to stretch.

Pool Day with Friends

Abby and Christy brought their kiddos to moms today so we could visit and the kids could swim. It's funny how "visiting" changes when you have 2 dramatic girls, two big boys who are all boy, and two little boys who are into everything.

We had so much fun, and our kids played so well together. At one point, I told Avery Claire to hand something to Lane. She knows Mattie well, but she looked around like "I'm not sure who that is." They'd played together all day, but we just assumed they all knew each others' names. We forget they don't have Facebook and don't keep up with each other like we do!

Jaxon made sure to keep them cooled off!

Later that afternoon, Brent brought Blair and Bryce over to swim. Jana came after work, and we loved watching them play together, too. These two could get into a lot if given the chance, I think!!

Bennett's First Haircut

I've been tucking Bennett's hair behind his ears for a couple of weeks now, so it was time for a haircut by Uncle Mike!

I kid you not - it took 4 adults and one picture taker to cut his hair, not cut his ears, and capture enough hair for me to save as proof of his first haircut. He's a busy boy. Sitting still is just not his thing. Maybe that would've been a good day for his first sucker, as well!

Avery Claire Visits CC

Avery Claire left Sunday morning to head home with Nana and Papa. Her little brother misses her and was so excited to get to Facetime with her and Bryant.

Bennett and I are headed there today to stay for a few days with them!

Bennett's First Splash Pad Trip

Avery Claire is at Nana and Papa's, so Bennett is living the life of an only child for a couple of days. Today, we met my friend Kristen and her boys for lunch and a splash pad date!

Bennett loved the splash pad!! The only thing that would've made it better for him was if I'd let him crawl all around by himself!! {and he could've done without the sweat bee sting}

(with Micah. I didn't get a picture with Ben - he liked the grassy hill behind us best!)

Bennett's 9 Month Well Check

Bennett had his 9 month well check yesterday. He didn't have to get shots, only a finger prick. To his sister's disappointment, he took it like a champ. Never even flinched.

9 month stats:
Weight: 20 lbs, 4 oz
Height: 29 inches
Head circumference: 17 and 3/4 inches

He's been hanging in there with 2 teeth, but Dr. C opened his mouth to look and when the light hit Bennett's gums, I could clearly see that his 2 top teeth about to break through. I've tried to look for a week and couldn't get a good luck. Dr. C pointed out that the two teeth on either side of the two front teeth are coming in, too. I'm a little sad, 'cause I love that smile with only those two little bottom teeth.

One-on-One with Big Sis

Avery Claire is such a great big sister. She loves Bennett so much, and he adores her. He never sees her that he doesn't break into the biggest grin you've ever seen.

Adjusting to being a big sister when she's been everyone's #1 focus for 4.5 years hasn't been the easiest. There's been some jealousy. Even still, after 9 months. So we've tried to make it a point to spend one-on-one time with her as much as we can. And I love it. It's so much fun to just get to sit and talk to her - she's so "grown-up" and has so much to say!

Kindergarten is Approaching

In 2 weeks, she starts Kindergarten. I don't know how in the world these past 5 years have gone by so fast. I am so excited for this next chapter in her sweet little life, but it's so bittersweet for this mama. I know how busy these past years have been, and once she starts school, I know it'll only be busier. I'm trying to prepare myself for that, and I'm going to keep trying to remind myself to just slow down and enjoy her and every little step of her new experience.

And I know I'll be saying the same thing about this sweet guy before I even blink.

Summer Nights

I love summer nights. Dusty is home. We eat dinner, go on a walk, get baths, and then we still have time to play before it's bedtime. I'm gonna miss our summer nights so much once school starts.

Morning Snuggles

Hallelejah. He has slept all night, every night, since we returned from our beach weekend.

Sometimes, after he wakes up around 7 and takes a bottle, he snuggles up and goes back to sleep. I soak up every little second of that.

I love my early morning cuddles with my sweet boy while sister still sleeps. School is gonna be so hard on us.

Happy 9 Months, Bennett!

Bennett, we cannot believe you're 9 months old. That's 3/4 of a whole year - how can it go by sooooo fast?

At 9 months, you:

- weigh about 20 lbs, I'd guess. I don't know because we haven't weighed you, but it's a guess.
- love to eat. You take a 6 oz bottle when you wake up, then eat breakfast about an hour or hour and a half later. You eat lunch and then take a 6 oz. bottle around 1:00. You sometimes take a 4-6 oz bottle before supper, and I always offer you a 4 oz bottle before bed. Sometimes you take all of it, sometimes you just take some of it. You tried green beans and liked them! You still have to work on chewing up little bites and not swallowing them!
- ARE SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT. I wasn't sure it would ever happen! After our weekend beach trip, during which your sleep was horrible, you came home and have slept through the night every night since.
- usually take 2 naps and sometimes a quick catnap around 5-6 to help you make it to bedtime. You usually take a good hour to hour and a half nap around 9:30, but your afternoon naps haven't been great (30-40 minutes). That's not gonna cut it at daycare, so you're gonna have to fix that. I haven't complained because I'd rather you sleep all night than take long naps!
- are as "sleep trained" as I think you'll ever be. I always read a book to you in your room and then put you in your bed. For awhile, you went to sleep with no tears at naptime and cried at bedtime. Now, you might cry for a minute at naptime, then you lay down and "talk" and "sing" yourself to sleep. Usually, at bedtime, you lay right down without any tears. You rarely go right to sleep, but you play in your bed for a few minutes before you fall asleep.
- will finally sit still when I read to you before nap or bedtime. You like to be read to. You love any Elmo book and you like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, just like sister did!
- have to sleep with your monkey cuddler. You do not every want or need a paci. I occasionally give you one, and you either throw it down or chew on it.
- are into everything. You can crawl so fast and love to get under the table that has all of the lamps so you can try to grab the cords.
- are such a loving baby, to anyone who holds you. Here's a great example - on the way to the beach, it was just me, you, and Avery Claire for awhile. We stopped to get breakfast and go to the bathroom. Avery Claire was holding you while I washed my hands. You were wiggling and slipping and the McDonalds worker who came into the bathroom asked if she could help. You lunged for her, so she got you. You snuggled right up to her while I quickly dried my hands. I love that you're a snuggle bunny.
- love the water. You get so excited when we turn on the bathwater at night. And you love the pool. You want us to just let you go when we're swimming.
- have the most beautiful blue eyes and the most precious little two-teeth grin. And your blonde hair - it owns me. It's almost white and is sticking out everywhere after you sleep.
- LOVE your sister. You light up every time you see her.
- are standing up and balancing very well. You can walk down the couch holding on. I think you'll be a walker soon.
- love to be outside. You like for us to push you in the Cozy Coupe and you love to swing. Swinging makes you so sleepy.
- love to see four-wheelers and golf carts and loud trucks go by when we're outside.
- are such a happy, easy-going boy. You love to laugh and play. You have brought more joy to our lives than we could ever tell you. I thank God that He sent you to us. We can't remember and can't imagine life without you.

I had to include some outtakes from your 9 month photo shoot! I'm not sure how I'll get you to be still with the dump truck next month!

Oops. I Ate a Sticker

This morning, my precious husband let me go to the pool. Alone. For 2 hours. And I had the pool to myself. It. was. glorious.

Tonight, we ran to WalMart while Dusty went to pick up our take-out. The lady at the front asked both kids if they wanted stickers. She put Bennett's on his arm, so I moved it to his shirt. A couple of minutes later, I saw him smacking, looked for it, and couldn't find it anywhere. We still haven't found it. I'm pretty sure I know where it'll turn up.

Is that a guilty face or what?!

The boy is into everything. I don't leave him alone for a second.

He's pulling up, standing up, and balancing himself. I know that walking is in our near future.

The time is near for some hand popping, I'm afraid. We tell him "no," but he's not too scared of it. I think we're gonna have to get serious soon.

Let's Bake a Cake {and wear our aprons}

Avery Claire declared yesterday that she wanted to bake a cake. Of course, we didn't have cake mix or icing, so we ran to WalMart to get what we needed. When I questioned where she got the idea to bake a cake, she confessed that she really just wanted a reason to wear her apron.

Why in the world does she look 10?

She helped every step of the way!

She was so proud of her finished product! It tasted very yummy, too!

Garage Time & Busy Boy

This boy just isn't a fan of the paci...but could you not just eat him up with that paci?

It's still just so hot. Too hot to even be out in the real heat. So, we've camped out in the garage a lot lately! They get to be outside, and sometimes, I get to get something done on the iPad! It's a win-win for everyone!

This is what I see 60% of the time if I'm standing up. He pulls up, crawls over, goes under, or dives off of whatever is nearby. Legs are his favorite pulling up tool.

He climbs on the green part of the little house, and lunges over to the exersaucer. He doesn't love to play IN the exersaucer so much anymore, but play around it? All day! He's just as busy as his sister always was. Maybe even more so, because he spends a lot of his time trying to catch up with her!
