We're still here

Did you think we'd fallen off the planet?! We are still here. We have moved into our new house and I am still getting settled in my classroom. Although my school life is still chaos, we are finally getting some order in life at home. You probably think that I have been too busy to blog....but we still do not have internet service at our house. It's probably a blessing in disguise that I haven't been able to waste time on the computer.
After Dusty has gone round and round with the people at AT&T, we have discovered a problem with our wiring. I am hopeful we will have internet by the weekend. Thank God for smartphones, or I would be cut off from the world. We have missed our 17 month post, Mema's birthday, and unpacking. Avery Claire has developed the daycare hacking cough. If I could figure out how to add pictures, I would. We will be back asap with pictures and updates. Just wanted to let you know we were still here!

Quality

We are enjoying our 5th afternoon/evening at the Microtel. And when I say enjoying, I really do mean it! That doesn't, however, mean that we are not very ready to live in a house!! We are spending lots of quality time, just the three of us. We usually rest a few minutes in the room, head out to eat dinner, come back and get ready for bed, and get in bed between 8:30-9:00. Avery Claire has been sleeping with us, and it takes her awhile to settle down and fall asleep.
We will not be moving into a house like we thought this weekend! We will instead head back to Clay County for the weekend. With lots of luck, they will call us during the weekend and tell us the house is ready. If not, we have decided Dusty will take off Monday and move us....with Papa's help, we hope. Not the ideal situation (we thought we would get to move this weekend). So, we will probably join our Microtel family for at least one more night.
School is going good. Dusty is still at his same school. I will get my room ready as soon as my school stuff is out of storage. Little stress there....
Avery Claire has adjusted to daycare better than we could have ever dreamed. She might whimper when Dusty starts to leave, but Mrs. Brittany settles her down quickly. She is loving playing with the kids there. I think they stay outside all day if the bug bites on her legs are any indication! We took her her own bottle of OFF today!
So, although our week is crazy and not our idea of normal, we are thankful for jobs. And that we can leave our girl at a place where she is happy!
I would add pics, but I just can't figure it out!

We are in the car as I type this post. The babe is snoozing, the husband is driving....and the car is PACKED - for a week at the Microtel Inn.
In case you didn't know, I got a JOB! I will be teaching 3rd grade. I will update you more on that soon. Needless to say, our weekend and our upcoming week = whirlwind! Don't expect blogging this week. I don't see it happening. Per Papa's request, however, I will do my best to "tweet!" I have a twitter account (I signed up to follow something), so I will put it to use this week. Follow us @brookecdavis. You can sign up at www.twitter.com.

Summer's End

Summer is officially over. Nana started back to school Monday. Dusty headed back to Russellville yesterday so he could start back today.

We have enjoyed every second of our summer and are very sad it's over.

Daddy, we miss you and can't wait to see you Friday. We hope your first day back is going great! We love you so very much!

Here's something Avery Claire's Daddy started...she is such a big girl!

I don't know this family, but ran across
their blog last night. As I sat there reading their story from the beginning, my heart broke. I honestly thank God every day for my so many blessings. But when I see things like this, I realize how petty my problems are. And I stopped right there at the computer last night to say a prayer for these parents. Prayers are powerful - the more the better - so I thought you might say one for them, too {even if you can't take reading their story}.

I love my girl more than life itself and am so blessed to be her Mommy. Hearing this story just reminds me to enjoy every.single.second.

Her Instinct?

Does anyone else's child have a 6th sense about when you're going to be leaving? With the exception of daycare, I take Avery Claire with me just about everywhere I go. We first noticed her "instinct" the night before Dusty left to go to the Marine boot camp. She was so clingy to her Daddy and slept a total of 2 hours that night.
This summer, I've had a couple of interviews that I had to get up early for, and Dusty and I have gone house hunting lately. She somehow knows that something is going on and gets up at the crack of dawn!

Needless to say, getting ready to go anywhere is a task, whether she is going or not. She will not let me out of her sight and usually won't let me put her down for a second. I either have to get ready before she gets up or allow plenty of time to get ready so that I can do it one-handed!
I do hate to leave my girl, anyway, and love it that she likes to be included in everything we do!

Would you wanna leave that face?

You should see the bathroom when we're done getting ready. If q-tips or toilet paper buy us a minute, we let her have at it.

Life in the Big CC

Our mini-stay in Clay County has turned into 3+ weeks. We have, however, found housing. It just won't be ready for another 2 weeks {fingers crossed!!}. So, while Dusty heads back to work Wednesday, Avery Claire and I will be remaining behind for an undetermined amount of time. There may be a job possibility for me, which could mean our entire little family living in a hotel for a week or so. Yep, I know how much fun that sounds. But, you do what you have to, right?

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We have done lots of visiting, lots of playing, lots of eating, lots of playing with the cat, and lots of resting. Avery Claire had her first fat lip, loves to jump off the side of the pool, waters the flowers every day, and thinks she runs this place. She is more spoiled than ever, if that was even possible. The sweltering 100+ temperatures do not faze her a bit, so we spend lots of time outside sweating our eyeballs out. But she loves it, so what can you say? Avery Claire has learned Ring Around the Rosie. Don't mention it if you don't want to do it. Because we have tons of them, we will leave you with pictures {and no further explanation} of our stay so far...
