17

This week, Baby Girl D is the size of an onion.

For a much cuter comparison, she is also the size of a Beanie Baby - remember those?

How far along: 17 weeks
Net weight gain/loss: up about 7-8 lbs.
Maternity clothes: bought maternity jeans today…I’ll still wear the band, but it’s really starting to drive me crazy. Those jeans felt like the most comfortable things in the world (other than my sweat pants!).
Stretch marks: No (and let’s pray for none!!)
Belly button: innie
Sleep: Still interrupted every couple of hours for a bathroom break
Baby movement: Yes! I can definitely feel Baby Girl D moving around in there, especially when I’m sitting still for a few minutes at a time.
Food cravings: Apple juice
Food aversions: No…
What I miss: Going to the tanning bed! I need a tan…
Looking forward to: Buying more maternity pants – they’re not the cutest, but they feel so much better!
Best moment this week: Feeling our baby girl move! I could cry every time!
Milestones: Baby’s skeleton is hardening from rubbery cartilage to bone and fat is starting to form around the bone. Her cute little fingers (of which we’ve counted 10!) have a complete set of fingerprints. Her fingernails and toenails are starting to grow. Over the next four weeks, Baby’s weight will increase approximately six times over!

16

This week, Baby Girl D is the size of an avocado.

How far along: 16 weeks
Net weight gain/loss: up about 7-8 lbs.
Maternity clothes: wearing the BeBand…things are getting really snug, but I’m just not really into the maternity clothes yet.
Stretch marks: No (and let’s pray for none!!)
Belly button: innie
Sleep: Still interrupted every couple of hours for a bathroom break (Although Friday night, I slept all night!!! Maybe it was b/c I didn’t go to sleep until about 1 am…we had a far away ballgame!)
Baby movement: Not yet
Food cravings: Still crackers & cheese
Food aversions: No…
What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach!
Looking forward to: Picking out bedding and furniture!
Best moment this week: Seeing our baby girl on the ultrasound!! She was flipping and turning and moving those arms…it was awesome!! We got to see her face in 4D, but she kept her hand in front of it most of the time.
Milestones: Baby Girl D can hear us talk to her now! Her legs are much more developed this week. Baby’s ears are close to their final position and the patterning of her scalp has begun, though her locks aren't recognizable yet. She’s starting to grow eyebrow and lashes, too. She's even started to grow toenails. Her taste buds are forming and she will stop swallowing if she tastes something bitter. There's a lot happening inside, too. Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as baby continues to develop. In the next few weeks, she will double her weight and add inches to her length.

Our Baby Girl

Here are pictures of our baby girl!!
They're a little grainy because they're scanned.
She was a busy little girl in there...she flipped and turned and let us see all sides and angles~
Here's a profile pic - can you see that nose and those lips?!

Here's a hand

Here's the proof - her Daddy said I shouldn't post this picture because it'll embarrass her one day.

Here's another face shot - we got a few 3D/4D shots, but they didn't scan well. This was the best one.

15

This week, Baby D is the size of a naval orange.
How far along: 15 weeks
Net weight gain/loss: up about 5 lbs. – but I haven’t weighed in a couple of weeks
Maternity clothes: wearing the BeBand…but I’m going to have to break out the clothes very soon.
Stretch marks: No (and let’s pray for none!!)
Belly button: innie
Sleep: Still interrupted every couple of hours for a bathroom break
Baby movement: Not yet
Food cravings: Crackers & cheese (I know that’s weird!)
Food aversions: No…
What I miss: Staying up late on Saturday night (I can’t stay awake!)
Looking forward to: Hearing Baby’s heartbeat again at the doctor’s appt Wednesday
Best moment this week: Feeling better!!
Milestones: Baby’s busy moving amniotic fluid through his or her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. Baby D’s legs are growing longer than the arms, and he or she can move all joints and limbs. Although Baby’s eyelids aren’t open yet, he or she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, Baby’s likely to move away from the beam.

Here's your belly shot! These were both taken in the same week (think the camera's a little closer on one of them, so maybe it looks a little bigger - or maybe it is a little bigger!).

14

This week, Baby D is the size of a lemon.
If you're wondering the same thing I am, you're asking if Baby D shrank this week. Isn't a peach at 13 weeks bigger than a lemon at 14 weeks? I think they're comparing Baby's length and weight to these fruits, so the actual size of the fruit isn't what they mean for us to look at? I'm not sure!

How far along: 14 weeks
Net weight gain/loss: up about 5 lbs.
Maternity clothes: wearing the BeBand
Stretch marks: No (and let’s pray for none!!)
Belly button: innie
Sleep: Still interrupted every couple of hours for a bathroom break; still lots of tossing and turning, but the body pillow does help me stay on my side.
Baby movement: Not yet
Food cravings: Rold Gold Cheddar pretzels and caffeine-free Dr. Pepper (if you find anywhere to buy it, let me know!!)
Food aversions: No…
What I miss: sleeping on my back
Looking forward to: Feeling much better!! Mommy has had flu-like symtoms for a few days. Had a negative flu test, but taking Tamiflu. Sorry I'm late in posting the weekly update this week. Starting to feel better...
Best moment this week: Beating Muscle Shoals, which means Daddy is feeling better about football!
Milestones: Baby D can grasp, suck his or her thumb, and pee! Baby is starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over its body.
Cheryl - I'm going to work on a belly shot for you this week (a belly that is covered by a shirt, of course!!).
