Splash Pad

I am happy to report that we are still on a great summertime schedule! It's so nice not having to get up before 7:00 every morning!
Today, we headed to the splash pad at a nearby park. Could she be any cuter? And she's just as sweet and precious as she is cute!
Photobucket I wasn't sure how Avery Claire would like the splash pad. I was worried she wouldn't want to get her head wet and wouldn't want to touch the water. Boy, was I wrong. It took her about 3 minutes to realize how much fun she could be having. She was running all over the place, through the water. I was tickled and had so much fun just watching her play. I followed her for a few minutes, then just sat down on a bench to watch. She absolutely had the time of her life. I managed to get her to stop for a quick picture. Photobucket Right before we left, she kept grabbing the insides of her legs. I thought she had tee-teed and it was bothering her. When we got to the car and I took off her swimsuit, I realized her little legs were raw because her swimsuit had rubbed them! I felt so bad! In my defense, she didn't act at all like it bothered until 2 minutes before we left. We came home and lathered her legs in vaseline and she took a really long nap! Like a 3 nap! I see a lot of splash pad in our future!

Summertime Schedule

Avery Claire and I had a little talk yesterday about a great summertime schedule. I told her she could stay up past 9:00 if she'd start sleeping in til around 8:00. She didn't like all of the talk about sleeping. She {according to her} is never tired or sleepy. She did, however, have to be woken up this morning after 8:00!! She went to daycare for a little bit today and Dusty is picking her up at lunch.

She knows every baby that is in that bed and if one is missing at bedtime she starts asking for her "udder baby" {other baby}. And you can't even see the babies at the other end of the bed.

Glad to Be Home

Summertime is officially here!
I'm so glad to be home with my girl, I didn't even mind getting up before 7:00 this morning!
Photobucket Today, we went to school so I could finish moving things out of my classroom into the library office. That's right. I have my own office! Isn't that weird?
And this afternoon, I finally washed my dirty car. It's been a long time. It was very dirty, but I had lots of help! Photobucket
Dusty deemed us official rednecks because our child was outside in her diaper washing the car.

Memorial Day {Arlington}

We had a long layover in Washington, D.C., today. Because my Uncle Mike lived in DC and was able to give us easy directions (and Metro stops), we took our luggage and headed to Arlington National Cemetery.

Photobucket
We got there after lunch and let me tell you, the heat was sweltering-a big change from the weather in Boston. Photobucket We saw the Kennedy's gravesites. Photobucket Photobucket We were also able to see the changing of the guard. On Memorial Day. Wow. There aren't words to describe it. And pictures certainly don't depict the feeling you get while you're there.
President Obama was there earlier in the day to place the wreath you see. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
It was certainly worth lugging our luggage around in the 90+degree heat. If you ever get the chance to go to DC, you must go to Arlington. Photobucket And we were soooo glad to get home and see this girl! We missed her like crazy! I think she was glad to see us, too! Every night when we've put her to bed this week, she says "Mommy not go?" Or "Mommy not go night-night?" And she yells "I wuv ewe much, Mommy. Night-night" at least 10 times to make sure we're still here. Photobucket We're very thankful to our family for taking such good care of her. Even though we might have called and texted too much to check on her {or maybe just I did}, we really never worried for a second about her.

Goodbye, Boston

Our view from our hotel: Photobucket We have so enjoyed our time in Boston. Seriously, I think I'd love to live here for a couple of months out of the year. I know I couldn't drive here, but you could really walk to wherever you needed to go! The weather has been so mild {and everyone at home is suffering from the heat}. It really is a beautiful city. There are so many different kinds of people here. You really can't tell who is a tourist and who isn't....well, you kind of can, but you know what I mean. Dusty and I have both noticed how surprised people are when we say "thank you" or ask how they are. People in the north are just not as nice as Southerners!Photobucket We got up this morning and headed to the airport. After our attempt yesterday, we are seasoned subway veterans :-)

Boston {Duck Boat Tour}

In case you are wondering what a duck boat is, it's an old army vehicle that can travel on land and water...
You can see one in this picture: Photobucket
The captain of our duck boat, Pauly, was very informative about the history of the sites we passed on our tour of Boston. Photobucket
This is Trinity Episcopal Church. The pictures don't do it justice. It's absolutely breathtaking. After the duck boat tour, we wanted to try to figure out the subway so that we could use it to get to the airport Monday. So, we decided we'd go to the Boston Aquarium while we were that way. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
