Memorial Day {Arlington}

We had a long layover in Washington, D.C., today. Because my Uncle Mike lived in DC and was able to give us easy directions (and Metro stops), we took our luggage and headed to Arlington National Cemetery.

We got there after lunch and let me tell you, the heat was sweltering-a big change from the weather in Boston. Photobucket We saw the Kennedy's gravesites. Photobucket Photobucket We were also able to see the changing of the guard. On Memorial Day. Wow. There aren't words to describe it. And pictures certainly don't depict the feeling you get while you're there.
President Obama was there earlier in the day to place the wreath you see. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
It was certainly worth lugging our luggage around in the 90+degree heat. If you ever get the chance to go to DC, you must go to Arlington. Photobucket And we were soooo glad to get home and see this girl! We missed her like crazy! I think she was glad to see us, too! Every night when we've put her to bed this week, she says "Mommy not go?" Or "Mommy not go night-night?" And she yells "I wuv ewe much, Mommy. Night-night" at least 10 times to make sure we're still here. Photobucket We're very thankful to our family for taking such good care of her. Even though we might have called and texted too much to check on her {or maybe just I did}, we really never worried for a second about her.
