Pneumonia

When we went to the doctor last Monday, he told us to do breathing treatments every 4 hours to try to keep the croup from developing into pneumonia. Dusty stayed home with Avery Claire Tuesday and they to continue breathing treatments and so she'd be 24 hours fever free before going back to school.
I wish I had a picture of Avery Claire's first words when I walked through the door that afternoon.
"Mama, Daddy let me wear my pajamas to Walmart!!"
She questions the people that we see in Walmart who are wearing their pj's and I tell her we shouldn't wear them out. So, I think it was more like her Daddy talked her into wearing her pj's to Walmart. His reason, of course, was because I didn't leave an outfit out for her to change into...when every other day Miss Sassy prances out of her room in the outfit of her choosing!!

She went back to school Wednesday and we did breathing treatments before school and then twice after school. When we put her to bed Friday night, I did not like the sound of her breathing. I check her all during the night and we decided Saturday morning to take her back to the dr.

They immediately did a chest x-ray and determined she did have some pneumonia in one lung. The pricked her finger to check her white blood count and determined we'd caught it very early. So, we started doing breathing treatments every 2 hours and began an antibiotic.

Shes's always been a trooper about breathing treatments. This was no different. I'm amazed at what a difference the more frequent albuterol treatments have made so quickly! And so far, Miss Cranky, Sassy pants x 19 hasn't made an appearance, even with the extra steroids we're blowing in her face!

I'm thankful for her sweet Daddy who steps right in and plays Barbies while holding the nebulizer under her nose!
